Choosing a Carpet
Pile, fibre and underlay matter more than colour.
Pile: high-traffic areas such as hallways, stairs and living rooms want a shorter, denser pile that recovers well. Bedrooms see less use, so a longer, softer pile is the luxury worth having.
Fibre: nylon is durable and resilient, polyester is soft and stain-resistant, and wool is luxurious but costs more and asks for more care. Many carpets are blends that aim for the best of both.
Underlay: this is where people are tempted to economise and shouldn't. Underlay determines how the carpet feels underfoot, how well it insulates and deadens sound, and how long the carpet itself lasts, because it takes much of the impact of every footstep.
Colour and pattern: the hardest thing to judge from a showroom. Bring us out and we'll put the samples on your floor, in your light, next to your furniture.
Every Carpet Fitting Is Different
No two carpet fittings are quite the same. Getting the roll into the room, working around fitted wardrobes and other fixtures, and dealing with furniture where clearing the room completely isn't possible all change the job. Every fitting is a custom fit of sorts, and we're set up for that.
For supply and fit we take ownership of measuring accurately, running any pattern in the direction you want it, and making you aware of any joins before we start, where the carpet doesn't come in a width that reaches wall to wall. Where a join is unavoidable, we place and fit it to keep it as invisible as possible.
We remove and dispose of your old carpet, fit new grippers and underlay, and finish the thresholds between rooms with the right door bars, so the join between the carpet and a hard floor looks deliberate.

Carpet tiles suit busy commercial spaces because a stained or damaged tile can be lifted and replaced on its own, rather than the whole floor being re-laid. They come in a wide range of colours, so they can be laid in patterns, used to mark out zones or matched to your branding.

It's a complete service: measuring, supply, old carpet removal and disposal, grippers, underlay and fitting, with one company responsible for all of it. We'll also fit a carpet you've bought elsewhere.
What should I consider when choosing a carpet?
Match the pile to the room: shorter and denser for stairs, hallways and living rooms, longer and softer for bedrooms. Think about the fibre, as nylon, polyester and wool differ in durability, softness and cost. Don't skimp on underlay, as it affects comfort, insulation and how long the carpet lasts. Then choose the colour, which is far easier to do with samples in your own room.
Do I need to move the furniture before you fit?
It helps a great deal if the room is clear, and we'll always ask you to move what you reasonably can, including anything fragile or valuable. Where clearing a room completely isn't practical, we're used to working around furniture. Tell us in advance so we can allow the time.
Will you take away our old carpet?
Yes. We lift and remove the old carpet and underlay, take up old gripper where it isn't fit to reuse, and clear it away, so you're not left with rolls of old carpet to dispose of.
Will the joins in my carpet show?
Where a room is wider than the carpet roll, a join is unavoidable. We tell you before fitting where any join will be, and we position and fit it to be as inconspicuous as possible, allowing for the pile direction and the light in the room.
Are carpet tiles a better option for a business?
Usually, yes. A damaged or stained tile can be replaced individually, which makes maintenance much cheaper over time, and tiles can be laid in patterns or brand colours. For a boardroom or a hotel-style space, broadloom carpet may still be the better look.
