Fitting a floor in business premises needs a different approach from fitting one at home. We keep high safety standards for our team, your staff and your customers, and we plan the work to keep disruption to a minimum during a refurbishment.

When you ask us to carry out a workplace flooring installation, the final choice of floor may not have been made yet. We take into account your budget and the needs of staff or customers in offices, storage rooms, boardrooms and washrooms, and we can make recommendations if you want to be more creative with colour and branding. Commercial carpet tiles or vinyl tiles, for example, can create borders, sections and shapes on the floor, and can even be used to mark preferred walkways.

The floor itself is part of your health and safety picture. Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, employers must keep floors suitable for their use and free from holes, uneven surfaces and slipperiness that could create a risk. That's why we check the subfloor is flat and in good repair, and prepare it properly, before any new floor goes down.

Commercial vinyl is a popular choice for businesses because it is durable, easy to clean and stands up to heavy foot traffic. It comes in a wide range of designs, it resists stains, scratches and moisture, and it is cost-effective compared with many other commercial floors — a practical way to upgrade a space without overspending.

The floor in a commercial kitchen has to be durable, slip-resistant and easy to clean, and it has to withstand constant foot traffic and heavy equipment while resisting stains, chemicals and moisture. The main options are commercial safety vinyl and ceramic floor tiles, and we have also fitted rubber flooring in commercial kitchens, which gives staff a comfortable, safe surface for long shifts on their feet.

Kitchens carry duties no other commercial floor does, from food hygiene requirements to slip resistance where fats and oils are present, and details such as cap coving and welded seams matter more than the material alone. Those are covered in full on our commercial kitchen flooring page.

There are two popular carpet choices for commercial spaces. Commercial broadloom carpet gives a comfortable, continuous surface and is chosen for its durability under heavy foot traffic. Commercial carpet tiles are more flexible: a damaged or stained tile can be lifted and replaced on its own, which makes maintenance far cheaper over the life of the floor, and they can be laid in patterns or brand colours.
